A Journey Of Growth With Founder Of Social Light, Tony Mautsu! The 27 year old from Botswana is the owner and director of Social Light. Having started off from humble beginnings, he refused to let anything shatter or deter him from his dream.
Tony’s dream was to one day penetrate the social media environment despite his accountancy background. Operating without an office, Mautsu founded Social Light Company six years ago aimed at managing social media platforms on behalf of other companies.
Tony was born 30 kilometres away from Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana in a small village called Mochudi and was not well versed with the English language. However from the young age of ten, he quickly knew how he would stand out.
His entrepreneurial nature started at an early age when he used to sell sweets, chips, compact discs and airtime. While attending a marathon in 2014, he used social media to generate inspirational quotes and respond to inquiries. This earned him the title, “that social media guy” .
“When I was done with the marathon, i got to work turning this newly discovered niche into a fully-fledged business. the Social Light, the light that leads corporations into this tricky unknown platform of social media,” he says.
Social Light is geared towards introducing cutting edge-tech services to assist companies position their brands and acquire in-depth information on client sentiments through data mining and monitoring tools in Botswana.
The company offers services such as video animation, graphic designing, content creation, HD-live streaming, application management and social media management. One of the company’s biggest highlights was when they were commissioned to work with the 2017 global Expo Botswana , which hosted founder of Virgin Group, business magnate and billionaire, Richard Branson.
Last year, Social Light worked with the Youth town hall Meeting organized by the Botswana government which featured telecom giant, Strive Masiyiwa. the business has grown 750% in the last year, he attests.
