The company’s farm fresh eggs are high in beta-carotene an antioxidant that has a reddish-orange pigment and is later converted to Vitamin A. They also come in a variety of colour on the outside. The higher beta-carotene level in farm-fresh eggs may also contribute to the nutritional value and benefit the immune system.
This eggs startup was founded by Lebogang Mashigo in 2019. The company produces and retail farm fresh eggs and its layers are only grain-fed supervised by Mashigo and a qualified Vet Doctor. Since establishing the startup Mashigo hasn’t looked back as it was not easy for her to build the startup. She had to borrow money from friends in order to cover the cost of starting a new farming business. The company is thriving due to Mashigo not giving up and making sure that she stays developing her business skills and the products that her startup offers.
Once her business was up and running, it received funding from organisations such as the NYDA and the Thembisisle Hani Local Municipality. This funding assisted her to continue to build her business as she increased the number of chickens she had so that they can produce more eggs. This is a backyard business that started with 20 hyline-brown chickens to now selling eggs that are laid by over 3000 layer chickens daily.
