The Story Behind Lethu Tshabangu’s Ukhamba Beerwox Business
The story behind Lethu Tshabangu’s Ukhamba Beerwox business. The journey to establishing his business was not an easy one at all. Lethukuthula Tshabangu went through tedious obstacles before he could successfully set up the now popular Capetown-based Ukhamba Beerwox business.
Lethu worked as a bartender in a place that sold craft beer and that is where he basically fell in love with beer and grew a desire to learn more bout it. Time flew by and very soon his home-brew hobby became a form of self expression. Lethu recognized that with a little patience and perseverance he could grow his passion and turn out to be one of the only black brewers in the country.
For some time Lethu practiced his craft and would make his friends taste his home made beer until he got the recipe right. Once they fell in-love with it, he decided to go commercial. Lethu saw an opportunity for him to start his own brewery where he could make beer his way similar to acquiring modern beer, but with an African identity.
Although Ukhamba is producing traditional beers, don’t expect to see plastic drums and clay pots during production. The brewery is made up of all state-of-the-art equipment and that is where all the magic happens. Ukhamba Beerwox offers a variety of flavors with each beer and interesting names as well keeping customers hooked to the place.
Lethu found his feet in business by bravely facing down the issues he encountered. What he truly loves about being the captain of his own ship is the challenges and the ability to face them head on. Conquering these challenges is vital to him for personal growth and the expansion of his business.
