1. Mzukisi Mbane was born and raised in Khayelitsha Township on the outskirts of Cape Town.
2. He is a passionate entrepreneur, self-taught fashion designer and brand ambassador.
3. Mzukisi’s design influences are somewhat fluid in their individualism.
4. Some of his favourite muses, from which he draws inspiration are Sophiatown and the band Mafikizolo.
5. Mbane also draws from his Africanism with the use of select traditional prints and motifs.
6. Music is also a large influence in his work.
7. He cites Kanye West as a style influence; translating the sleek and chic style of West’s into his work, pulling out specific elements to create a look that forms the urban Imprint brand.
8. He is a self-taught designer who used his seamstress mother’s sewing machine much as an artist would use a paintbrush, was inspired by his fashionista grandmother from an early age.
9. He qualified as an accountant but that is not where his passion lays.
10. In 2011 he launched Swagger Diariez, a lifestyle brand which became Imprint ZA in the same year.
