The name Laduma Ngxokolo remains one of the most revered in the fashion industry, hence he is thriving at his niche inspired clothing label, Maxhosa.

Those who are regular clients of Laduma Ngxokolo, know just how pricey his garments are. The textile and knitwear designer never wavered from his original goal, which is producing high end knitwear clothing. Although some have constantly questioned the staggering prices, others (probably the target market) have gladly and proudly supported this exclusive clothing brand.

Mom Knows Best:

Growing up in Port Elizabeth, Laduma’s mother( who’s late) taught him everything he knows. Including knitting at the age of fifteen, which has now worked in his favour as a fashion designer.

Shout Out From Beyoncé:

Back in the year 2015.  Grammy award winning musician, Beyonce Knowles – Carter uploaded a cool shout out on her blog, about Laduma’s exquisite designs at Hewitt Design Museum in New York City.

Hometown and Culture Glory:

Laduma’s latest 2021 virtual showcase in New York, was heavily inspired by his African spirituality, stemming from his childhood in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The signature Xhosa patterns on his garments are testament of Laduma’s love and appreciation for his Xhosa culture. Especially the Xhosa initiates known as ‘Amakrwala’.

Diversity:

The business narrative of fashion is rapidly evolving,  and Laduma is clearly not about to miss that train. In the year 2019, he launched, an array of skillfully crafted iPhone covers in collaboration with beadwork designer, Vukile Batyi. These sleek phone covers reportedly cost a whopping R2,200!

Education:

In 2016, the media shy fashion designer graduated from Central St. Martins, after obtaining a qualification in Material Futures.
