Female Owned Start-Up MomSays Aims To Help Moms Pick The Right Products

Female Owned Start-Up MomSays Aims To Help Moms Pick The Right Products. MomSays is a platform that brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience from moms around South Africa to help other moms find the right products the first-time round. This is a community where moms can voice their opinions, connect with brands they love, and win exciting prizes.

This is the brainchild of well-known mommy blogger, Shan, and start-up junkie, Vije. MomSays developed out of a real need for a supportive and authentic platform that can help moms cut through the clutter and easily find the right products for them and their children.

As a young mother, Shan quickly realised that motherhood can be a very lonely journey. She launched her acclaimed blog, You, Baby and I, in 2014 as a way to connect with other moms going through a similar experience. “I wanted advice from real moms; moms who had actually used the products and experienced the brands daily.” says Shan.

After collaborating with some of the world’s biggest brands – such as Mattel, Disney, LG, Volvo, Samsung and Unilever – You, Baby and I was named Africa’s most influential parenting blog in 2016 and won Best Parenting Blog in South Africa the following year. “It was around this time that I started to realise that You, Baby and I was more than just a blog. It had become a tribe of moms who trusted each other’s opinions. My readers became my friends and support system, the people who were there for me during both my happy and sad moments.” said Shan.

With this realisation, the idea of MomSays was born. Already partners in life, Shan and Vije decided to embark on this exciting new business journey together. An engineer by profession, Vije soon quit his full-time job to use his passions for photography and UX design to help Shan develop the MomSays platform; a platform designed around a passionate tribe of moms who have each other’s backs.
