7 Services Entrepreneurs Can Get On CIPC’s Biz Portal

CIPC’s Biz Portal is the ultimate stop shop for entrepreneurs looking at formalising their businesses and ensure their businesses are compliant. BizPortal offers company registration and related services in a simple seamless digital way which is completely paperless. It was developed in response to the quest of improving the ease of doing business in South Africa, specifically, starting a business. Here are 7 Services Entrepreneurs Can Get On CIPC’s Biz Portal

1.Company registration 

A company registration is R125 for both private company and non-profit companies registered without members. A private company must have at least one (1) director and a non-profit company must have a minimum of three (3) directors. A successful company registration transaction automatically comes with a tax registration number. 

2. Tax Registration

All companies that are already registered have been automatically registered for tax with the South African Revenue Service (SARS). New companies, as soon as the registration is completed, as also instantly registered with SARS. To confirm registration and to view your tax number please use the BizProfile funtionality under “Services”. 

3.Instant UIF registration 

Employers must complete the relevant fields for both themselves and their workers. This transaction is at no cost. Employers do not have to register for UIF if they do not have employees.  Use the BizProfile option to check if your application has been processed. Your UIF registration number will be displayed under the “other” section. Contact the UIF to submit declarations. 

4.Compensation Fund Registration 

Employers must complete the relevant fields for both themselves and their workers. This transaction is at no cost. Employers do not have to register for Compensation Fund if they do not have employees.  Use the BizProfile option to check if your application has been processed. Your Compensation Fund registration number will be displayed under the “other” section. Contact the Compensation Fund to submit declarations. 

5.B-BBEE CERTIFICATES

Exempted Micro Enterprises (Private Companies / Close Corporations) with a turnover of no more than R10 million can use this platform to register for a B-BBEE certificate at no cost. 

  • CIPC B-BBEE certificates are free of charge.
  • CIPC only provides B-BBEE certificates to Exempted Micro Enterprises; turnover of no more than R10 million.
  • A certificate is only valid for a year and cannot be renewed. Once expired a new application must be filed.
  • Only directors/members of entities are allowed to apply for B-BBEE certificates, no intermediaries or third parties.

6.Domain Registration 

CIPC in collaboration with ZADNA and ZACR now offers domain name registration for any registered company, close corporation or co-operative. We currently only offer .co.za domains with a plan to include other top level domains in the future. The co.za domain name registration costs R51.75 which all goes to the regulator of domain names, ZADNA. Please note that we cannot use any funds you might have available on your CIPC virtual account; you will need either a debit or credit card to register a domain. 

7.Business Bank Accounts 

The CIPC has collaborated with banking institutions in an effort to offer one stop and seamless transactional experience with the following banks:

  • Absa
  • First National Bank
  • Mercantile Bank [Capitec]
  • Nedbank
  • Sasfin Bank
  • Standard Bank

Upon successful company registration, or during the registration process, a customer can select a bank of their choice from the drop-down list and their information will be sent to the bank in question. The selected bank will then contact the customer for the business bank account opening.
