How A Young Chicken Farmer Lost Almost 200 Chickens In One Day!

After being featured in a local newspaper last week, as means of marketing her business, Sinenhlanhla Ngubane woke up to her 174 chickens being killed the next day.

Whilst in high school, three years ago, Sinenhlanhla established her poultry business. It continues serve as means of sustaining herself and her family in eManguzi, Kwa Zulu Natal.

According to Sinenhlanhla’s analysis, the incident could not have an animal attack, but the culprit is likely to have been driven by pure jealousy, as he allegedly used a panga to kill 174 of her chickens.

In an article ran by Sowetan, Ngubane stated the following:

“I have had the business for three years and it has helped me a lot over the years. When I started my first year at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal I did not have money for my fees as I was still waiting for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme to approve my application. My chicken business came in very handy as I was able to register, buy books and clothes for myself. I was also able to help buy food for my family.”

“The newspaper showed my hustle and progress in my progress in my poultry farm but someone decided to kill my babies (chickens). I had 190 chickens and they killed 174 and stole six. They only left 10, which means I lost R16,200 for the October cycle”.

However, not all is dark and gloom, hence various people have come forward to assist Sne with contributions of 200 year old chickens,, including, media personality, Angie Khumalo,  who took to social media and committed herself to buying Ngubane 200 one day olds chicks.
