The Carousel Hotel Is Up For Sale!

The South African Tourism and Hospitality industry is one of the many industries that were severely under pressure during the national lockdown.

Many tourist attraction facilities resorted to various mitigation strategies, whilst it worked for some, other facilities soon fell short, especially those that were already in dire financial strain.

Such an establishment is the popular, Carousel Hotel in the North West. It was in the year 1991 when the hotel began operating and it soon became the go to spot for all things entertainment, including hosting boxing events.

The Carousel was permanently closed in April 2020, due to the initial wave of the corona virus in March. Fast forward to October 2020, the once popular Carousel hotel complex is officially up for sale and potential property buyers are encouraged to show their interest.

The once aesthetically pleasing Carousel hotel now depicts a picture of its former glory, but even so, it still doesn’t come cheap.

Reportedly, the Carousel might go on sale for R200 million, which is less than the property’s official value of more than R500 million.

The arrival of the corona virus pandemic, hit the final nail on the head, hence Sun International CEO, Anthony Leeming announced in April that the complex would be  closed permanently together with Naledi Casino complex in the Free State.
