How Female Owned Jamsco Is Thriving In The Automotive Industry. Jamsco Automotive Assemblies is a BBBEE company operating within the automotive sector of South Africa. It was founded by Hayley Eagle after joining the Automotive Industry Development Centre’s (AIDC) Incubation Programme in January 2012. Jamsco partnered with Sodecia SA, a Tier 1 supplier to Ford, who produces 21 welded sub-assembly components. Eagle previously owned her own company in Botswana and has extensive knowledge in the industry. She has also managed a garage supporting repairs and maintenance as well as having worked for BMW, Mercedes and Delta.
“The Incubation Programme has provided me with the opportunity to manage my own company in a supported environment. Jamsco provided labour, supervisory, management, safety and quality control services to Sodecia for the production of welded assemblies which are supplied directly to the Ford production line.” said Eagle in a statement on the company’s website.
Jamsco was the successful bidder to be given a one year contract to support Ford directly on their production line. Ford has extended the contract to date. Ford provided Jamsco with guidance, knowledge transfer, and access to machinery, marketing and enterprise development support.
All the parts that are produced by Jamsco conform to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) globally accepted standards. Jamsco currently produces a stamped Z bracket that is exported to Ford Argentina and FMCSA.
Jamsco has added value by not only being well positioned with strategic partners but also with location. With the strategic partnerships formed, Sodecia SA identified an opportunity for Jamsco to supply a pressed component bracket that fits on the dash panel as an engineering change to the Ford T6 Ranger. In the past year of supplying in excess of 360 000 Z brackets Jamsco has achieved Zero PPMs.
Jamsco is a BEE Level 1 Contributor, it has 5 years experience in automotive production, 2 years zero PPM Tier 2 stamping supplier (Tier 1 Sodecia SA).
