Legends Barbershop rise as South Africa’s number 1 barbershop

Legends Barbershop is the leading barbershop in South Africa as rated by the African Hair Awards Council.

Legends barbershop was founded by Sheldon Tatchell in 2011 when he started cutting people’s hair on the sidewalk in Eldorado Park and in 2014 he opened his first shop which was followed by branches from Soweto to Cape Town.

However, at first Tatchell did not see it as a business but just as a way of making money from doing something he loved. The world of mouth spread among his clients network of clients that the business growing and it was clear to him that something was about to take off.

Even though his friend dropped out of the business venture Tatchell managed to keep things going even when he was forced to close the formal business to find work to keep him afloat. He kept the Legends Barbershop business as a side hustle for two years as he was working with loyal clients that helped keep the business afloat.

Once he was back in business he travelled with a scooter to a clients place to give them a proper haircut. Clients loved this experience so he thought it would be a good idea to have a mobile barbershop.

The mobile barbershop has travelled all over the country, Botswana and Lesotho. The business has seen much success as Rapper Ricky Rick also invested in a Legends barbershop franchise located in Midrand.

Legends barbershop has grown strong over the years, having over 15 barbershops and one mobile bus, which is the first of its kind in South Africa.
