5 Things You Need To Know About The New Viral Social Networking App Clubhouse. Clubhouse can be seen as a space for casual, drop in audio conversations – with friends and other interesting people around the world. It allows users to go online anytime to chat with the people they follow or hop in as a listener and hear what others are talking about.

Here are some of the things you should know about this rising social networking app.

Clubhouse is an audio based social app that allows users to spontaneously join group chats. It was founded by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, two Bay Area entrepreneurs and alumni of Standford University.

Clubhouse is an invitation-only audio-chat social networking app launched in 2020 by software developers Alpha Exploration Co. As of December 2020, it was valued at nearly $100 million. On January 21, 2021, the valuation hit one billion US dollars.

Clubhouse launched on iOS in April 2020. The app gained popularity in the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic—especially after a May 2020 $12 million Series A investment ($10 million in primary capital and a $2 million purchase of existing shares) from venture firm Andreessen Horowitz. As of December 2020, the app had 600,000 registered users and remained accessible only by invitation. In January 2021, the company announced that it would begin working on an Android application soon. Clubhouse grew significantly in popularity after Elon Musk was interviewed by the GOOD TIME club.

Clubhouse features a wide variety of clubs and virtual rooms with conversations on diverse topics, talk shows, music, networking, dating, performances, political discussions, and more. Some examples of the many clubs in Clubhouse are Startup Club, Fit, Black Wealth Matters, Leadership Reinvented, Music & Technology, Dear Young Queen, Health Is Wealth, Designkinds the Multi Creatives, NBA Fan Club, Smiling & Positivity, Afropolitan Lounge, Muslims & Friends, The Dacha, The Legacy Think Tank, Reinventing Health\Care, The True Love Society, TikTok Marketing Secrets, and Astrology and Metaphysics Club.

The app is also known for its celebrity users, with members like Drake, Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish hosting virtual conversations on Clubhouse. The app is becoming popular in the black entertainment community in particular. With Haddish being the first person to break 1 million followers on Clubhouse, which should tell you that, the service is well past that 1,500 users mark.
