Southern Africa Youth Project Seeks To Empower Young People. Southern Africa Youth Project is a non-profit organisation that was established in 2005 by Neftaly Malatjie, who also serves as the organisation’s CEO, with a strive to enable girls and youth in cities, townships and rural areas to use technology for their advancement. The company does this through educational support for the girl child, capacity building for the unemployed youth and linking unemployed youth into jobs and opportunities.

The Youth Project envisions a world of inclusive economic empowerment for all young people in Southern Africa regardless of age, race, gender and socio-economic status. It works in collaboration with Corporate Businesses, the Government agencies, Sector Education and Training Authority (SETAs), TVET Colleges, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) serving young people, large corporations, recruitment agencies and local communities.

The organisation has over 450 online Accredited and Certified courses and qualifications in its division, Southern Africa Youth Academy, such as CompTIA Courses, Wireless Pentesting and Business Management.

The organisation has assisted 70% of its clients to find employment; it has around 60000 youth registered in cities, townships and rural areas. It has partnered with over 70 businesses that help create employment for the youth.

The organisation has won over 19 awards for its exceptional work of uplifting and empowering the youth such as the 2011 Winner Shoprite Community Network, 2012 Fellow Fetola Legends, 2015 winner of Africa Growth, Innovation and Leadership By Frost and Sullivan Africa, 2018 NPO of the Year by Gauteng Department of Social Development and the 2020 MTN Awards for Social Change MTN Trialogue South Africa.

The organisation has a host of services that they provide such as Health, Welfare and HIV/AIDS; SME and Business Support; Training and Development; NPO Membership Support; Emergency Relief and Disaster Support; Youth Unemployment and Poverty Alleviation; Work Readiness Programme and Online Digital Technology Skills.
