Automaker Genesis Targets European Market With New G70 Shooting Brake

Automaker Genesis Targets European Market With New G70 Shooting Brake. Genesis has released preview images of the upcoming G70 Shooting Brake. It’s gorgeous, with the same flowing design language as the face lifted G70 and stunning long-roof proportions. Genesis is using ‘shooting brake’ here to describe a more traditional four-door wagon, albeit with a dramatic roofline. Semantics aside, though, the G70 Shooting Brake has the dramatic silhouette of the best wagons.

Genesis only recently announced its expansion to the European market. The G70 Shooting Brake—the brand’s first wagon—is a big part of that strategy, allowing Genesis to offer the type of compact wagon that’s still popular in Europe. If the company’s goal is to compete on design, it’s already off to a good start. With taillights that overflow onto the side and a lower, meaner grille, the G70 Shooting Brake takes Genesis’ already-great G70 design and makes it better.

Inheriting its design from the new G70 sedan, the G70 Shooting Brake’s signature Crest Grille, set lower than the Quad Lamps which spread outward, evokes a sprinter’s pre-race posture and highlights the model’s athletic design. It adds an element of practicality to the exterior of the new G70 sedan with increased trunk space while boasting a sleek and elegant coupe design at the same time.

The Quad Lamps, which represent the epitome of Genesis’ design identity, extend to the surface of the hatch to create a unique impression. When viewed from the side, the combination of the single-piece glass hatch that extend to the rear and the “floating type” integral spoiler creates a unique impression to the exterior that communicates the G70 Shooting Brake’s athletic intent.

The interior inherits the driver-focused design of the new G70 sedan, which resembles the cockpit of a fighter jet. As the trunk space is 40 percent larger than that of the new G70 sedan, and its rear seat can be folded at a ratio of 4:2:4, customers can conveniently load luggage of various sizes depending on the circumstances.
