How Vaya Footwear Is Helping South Africans Chase Their Dreams. The Vaya Footwear project is a sneaker business with the primary goal of igniting the hustle fire and ambition in the hearts of South Africans. This is a South African sneaker brand which celebrates ambitious people and reminds them to keep working on their goals no matter what.

The company believes ‘Go-Getters’ like everybody else, go through hardships and challenges and it exists to remind them to keep reaching regardless of any internal or external factors. In simple terms, Vaya is a shoe for the ambitious. It is very focused on personal development and excellence because one should not be afraid of storms as they are learning to sail their ship. The company was founded by Themba Makamo.

Vaya celebrates excellence and encourages South Africans to work on their goal no matter what challenges lay ahead. This can be career, academic, business, health, and even travel goals. Vaya believes in positivity and moving forward.  It is a shoe for the ambitious and it believes ambitious people can always triumph with the right motivation, and that is why it exists.

The word Vaya is a South African township slang which means “go”, “to go” or “going”. This common word can also be used as motivation to “Go get it!” which actually translates to “chase or go after your dreams.” In the township sneakers tell a person’s story, and more importantly, they also reveal its ambitions and aspirations as they are a source of confidence. It is from this knowledge that Vaya footwear was started, it aims to design and make sneakers that celebrate who people are and give them confidence in going after their dreams.

“Our Sneakers helps ambitious people who want to be successful to realign with their goal, by reminding them of that their dreams are valid and that they can conquer all challenges that may come their way, unlike just offering them fashionable sneakers.” Thabang Ledwaba, Vaya’s Brand Manager said on the company’s website.
