Founder Of Icebolethu Group Nomfundo Mcoyi Shares How She Built Her Business In A Male Dominated Industry. In an interview with KZN Top Business, founder & CEO of Icebolethu Group Nomfundo Mcoyi shared how she built her business in a male dominated industry.

Mcoyi said, “… It’s been a journey, entering into a man’s industry, because funerals were known to be a man’s industry but when I started in 2009, it hasn’t been an easy journey since I didn’t even have a loan when I started the business, 12 years later, here I am, Icebolethu more than 120 branches in KZN, we are even in London and we just move into Johannesburg and the brand is doing so well in the funeral industry. Yes we have grown, but it was through hard work, dedication and passion and having a great team that supports me and the entire vision.”

Female entrepreneurs should be striving to get into male dominated industries as this will bring about a diverse group in the work environment and ensure that everyone gets equal opportunities to pursue their dreams and visions. However one can face a lot of challenges as some of these industries have gatekeepers who will not easily allow someone to be successful. It is therefore important that female entrepreneurs surround themselves with professionals and experts in their respective fields so that they can receive sound and valid advice on how to tackle any challenges that they may face on their entrepreneurial journey.

Mcoyi explained that it took hard work and dedication for her to realise her entrepreneurial dreams, she aims to show people that this journey is not an easy one and entrepreneurs should be prepared to put in the work if they want to make their business a success. She has built her business to be a formidable player in the industry which will inspire other females to also go for their dreams no matter what.
