Canadian Publisher Rising Action Publishing Collective Partners With Black Bird Books To Bring South African Books Into The North American Market
Canadian Publisher Rising Action Publishing Collective Partners With Black Bird Books To Bring South African Books Into The North American Market. Canadian publishing company ‘Rising Action Publishing Collective’ announced its partnership with Black Bird Books that will seek to bring South African books into the North American market. The company took to Twitter to make this announcement.
The post read, “Today we are so excited to announce our new partnership with @_BlackBirdBooks to bring South African books to the North American market.” This partnership will surely be beneficial to South African writers who aim to penetrate the international market especially in North America. Most South African writers find it hard to get publishers who can publish their books into the international market, therefore this partnership brings an opportunity for these writers to have their work showcased on an international platform which may lead to more publishers willing to distribute their work as they will be associated with credible international publishers such as Rising Action Publishing Collective.
“Blackbird Books affords me and our authors the space to produce stories that are true to our African experience and who are. A big part of our vision is to share those stories with the rest of the world just as they are, and this partnership is a big step in us beginning in realising that dream.”Thabiso Mahlape, owner and publisher of Blackbird Books said in a statement.
This partnership will see the initial release of four South African books with the potential for more in the future. The books that are set to be released are: ‘Sweet Medicine’ by Panashe Chigumadzi, ‘No Be From Hia’ by Natasha Omokhodion-Kalulu, ‘Holding My Breath’ by Ace Moloi, and ‘Broken River Tent’ by Mphutumi Ntabeni.
“To be able to bring these important books to Canada is something my business partner, Tina Beier, and I are so proud to be a part of,” Alexandria Brown, co-owner of Rising Action Publishing Co said in a statement. “When we started our indie publishing house we wanted to find a way to bring books to Canada from outside of the North American and UK markets to assist with the diversification of books in publishing.”
