South African Digital Bank TymeBank has announced that it has partnered with The Foschini Group (TFG) to launch 600 kiosks at TFG’s stores for their 26 million customers. This is a strategic partnership by the brands in that TFG will be gaining a much wider reach of Tymebank’s clients while Tymbank will be helping their clients as this partnership will make it easy for them to transact at a physical kiosk should they need to.
TymeBank chief executive Tauriq Keraan said in a statement: “TFG houses some of South Africa’s most popular and well-established consumer brands and is renowned for its retail strength and strong customer focus. We couldn’t be more excited with our strategic partnership as we look to expand our reach. Furthermore, we are likely to diversify the current TymeBank customer profile as we further extend the benefits of affordable banking as well as a superior banking experience to the middle and upper-middle market segments.”
Headquartered in Rosebank, Johannesburg, TymeBank does not have any physical bank branches and relies on an Android banking App, an Internet Banking site and a partnership with retail chains, Pick n Pay, Boxer and TFG, to host a national network of self-service kiosks that facilitate the account opening process. With its partnership with TFG, TymeBank seeks to increase its reach to its customers as it will be having more Kiosks in various stores where people can easily do their banking.
The TymeBank kiosk is the company’s self-service machine or terminal that people can now find at Pick n Pay, Boxer stores and TFG stores, the kiosk allows people to open a bank account within five minutes. The kiosk itself has a digital screen with easy-to-follow instructions in terms of how to open an account. This will bring convenience to a lot of people as they will be able to assist themselves without having to stand in long queues by visiting bank branches.
