This Is Why iPhone 13 Users Should Be Wary About Fixing Their Smartphone At Any Repair Shop

This Is Why iPhone 13 Users Should Be Wary About Fixing Their Smartphone At Any Repair Shop. Many people around the world want to get their hands on the latest Apple iPhone 13, this is because the brand has become more and more popular among people all over the world. However it has been reported that the iPhone 13 screen can not be repaired at any repair shop as it requires a chip in order for the new screen to be paired with the phone and this can only be done through the Apple Services Toolkit 2.

According to Forbes Magazine, iFixit discovered that Apple added a small chip into the bottom of their iPhone 13 screens. The chip is a microcontroller which pairs each iPhone 13 to its display. When a display is damaged and needs to be replaced, the microcontroller must be told to pair with the new screen. Doing this requires ‘Apple Services Toolkit 2’ (AST2), an expensive proprietary service which requires consent and certification from Apple.

This will make it hard for iPhone users to easily replace their broken screens as they will only be able to fix it at an Apple repair store. This is a problem because Apple will be the only one controlling where iPhone users can repair their phones and this will result in the company creating a repair monopoly as no other repair services provider will be able to activate the screen once it is replaced.

It was also reported that when the new screen is not paired to the iPhone, the iPhone’s Face ID, which is its primary security system will be disabled, leaving users vulnerable to cyber attacks. By doing this Apple is limiting its competition from operating as iPhone users will only be able to repair their phones at an accredited Apple repair shop.

There are a lot of phone companies that allow their users to fix their phones at any repair shops that they want, it is believed that if Apple does not allow its customers to do the same they will be paying a lot more money than necessary just to fix their iPhone 13’s screen.
