Takealot CEO Kim Reid Highlights Where The Company Seeks To Expand Its Services. In an interview with Tech Central, South African entrepreneur and founder of Takealot Kim Reid highlighted where the company seeks to expand its services.
He said, “If you look at grocery for one, it is something we want to explore and see if the is a part for us to play there. Perhaps broadening out our financial services capabilities is something else we want to look at as well. If there is a part for us to play, I think that important if there is no part for us to play we won’t play there.”
Takealot.com was officially launched in June 2011 by Kim Reid with investment from Tiger Global Management. The business was initiated with a simple vision in mind, to be the largest, simplest, most customer centric online shopping destination in Africa. The business has evolved rapidly since inception, opening and expanding warehouses in Cape Town and Johannesburg, expanding category selection to 19 categories, including Electronics, Sport, Home & Kitchen, Fashion and more, while also taking control over its own logistics with the purchase of Mr. Delivery, now the Takealot Delivery Team.
Through providing a range of diversified products, Takealot has been able to build a formidable eCommerce business that people rely on to get most of their goods. If it is planning on expanding its services to cater for groceries, it will tap into a market that is very lucrative as people buy groceries all the time and through its financial services, it will make sure that it is giving its customers a package deal that will make sure that they remain loyal customers.
No company is ever big enough for expansion, there is always room to grow and new markets to conquer, Takealot realises this even though it is successful, this is what will make it reach the heights that other businesses haven’t due to them being stagnant.
