American Tech Giant Google Announces The Launch Of The ‘Google Hustle Academy’ To Train Small African Start-Ups. American tech giant Google has announced the launch of its ‘Google Hustle Academy’ that is dedicated to training African small businesses. The company said that the academy will be in the form of a BootCamp to 5000 SMEs and Entrepreneurs in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

Google government affairs and public policy manager Abongile Mashele shared that even though they have collaborated with the South African government they would not be exchanging funds with them as this is not a financial partnership, “it’s not a financial partnership. We will not be disbursing any funds through them.” Mashele told News24. Google LLC is an American multinational technology company that specialises in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, a search engine, cloud computing, software, and hardware.

“We would like to commend Google for its economic recovery initiatives it is investing in, particularly its support for job seekers and SMMEs (small, medium and micro enterprises), adding that the academy would be open on February 21 and seeks to train 1 500 entrepreneurs in SA, live training sessions, 1-1 mentorship and masterclasses by industry leaders are just some of the benefits that the Hustle Academy will offer, as it is designed to help small businesses grow by increasing revenue, positioning for investment and building a sustainable business for the future.” Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams told News24.

With this initiative, Google seeks to help these African entrepreneurs to recover from the devastating economic effects of the Covid 19 pandemic. Google also sees that there are a lot of entrepreneurs who have businesses that have potential to become big companies, that have a significant impact in society. This academy seeks to make sure that these entrepreneurs have the necessary skills to scale their businesses.
