Unfortunately he had to stop managing the business in 2016 due to the illness,” he said. Throughout the years the Shisa Nyama managed to gain popularity and it began to not only attract local customers but it also attracted international tourists.

Panyaza showed that he was a savvy businessman as he partnered with 707 in Jabavu due to the fact that he could not secure a liquor license, this partnership made sure that his eatery is established in a place where people can also buy alcohol. This brings a lot of customers to the establishment as they want to buy alcohol and therefore will also buy food.

The Shisa Nyama was frequently visited by well known celebrities such as DJ Black Coffiee and Vinny Da Vinci. Seeing that the Shisa Nyama is a viable business venture Siyabonga seeks to carry on the legacy of his father by making sure that the business becomes even more successful than it is. This will not only make his father proud but he will also be adding to building generational wealth that he can also pass on to his children some day.

Siyabonga also told Sowetan Live that, “My father was very committed. He raised us very well as his sons. Unfortunately, when my father fell ill his business also suffered and never ran like when he was in charge. Covid-19 also played a negative role in the business. My wish is to continue with his legacy by running a shisa nyama that will be named after him.”
