Vumatel Partners With PinkDrive To Close The Care Gap For World Cancer Day

Vumatel Partners With PinkDrive To Close The Care Gap For World Cancer Day. South African Start-Up Vumatel has announced its partnership with Pink Drive to close the care gap for world cancer day. Vumatel is determined to be the sponsor of this organisation as it tackles this issue that society faces.

To commemorate World Cancer Day, Vuma sponsored PinkDrive to take its Mobile Health Unit to Bara Taxi Rank on 3 February 2022. This allowed people within the community to access health screening and educational resources for gender-related cancers, including breast, cervical, and prostate cancer.

According to Vumatel about 105,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in South Africa every year. Additionally, roughly 35,000 people are not reaching cancer screening services due to the pandemic. As South Africa’s leading uncapped fibre internet provider, Vuma realised that COVID-19 has dramatically reduced the routine screening and treatment of non-communicable diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

The theme for World Cancer Day 2022 – 2025 ‘ #CloseTheCareGap’ is all about raising awareness of this equity gap that affects almost everyone in high- as well as low- and middle-income countries. However, a care gap is costing lives across the world. The company knows that cancer and other diseases continue to impact countless South Africans that’s why it believes in creating opportunities for its communities through partnerships like this.

The company seeks to empower PinkDrive through access to resources that will help the organisation deliver its essential services to the communities that need them most. This is essential for helping people in the community and therefore Vumatel sees this as an opportunity to create a partnership that will be beneficial to the people. It seeks to show that it is a company that is aware of the issues that society faces and it is willing to form partnerships in order to help them overcome these issues.
