Cosmetics Start-Up Nubian Cosmetics Seeks To Make Products For African People. Nubian Cosmetics is a proudly South African brand, designed for the South African woman who wants to look naturally beautiful and still keep true to her authentic self – no matter the shade of her brown skin. The brand’s foundation is hypoallergenic and gives a flawless coverage and a matte finish.

Nubian Cosmetics is a tailored make-up range formulated and designed by an African woman, for the everyday person inclusive of all genders and races. The company is passionate about what it means to ‘BE you – To BE authentically you, to BE free and to BE able to enjoy the liberty of being comfortable in your own skin and shade’. It’s aim is to challenge the current beauty status quo and offer a range of products that are exclusive, where one’s foundation, eyes and face are all tailored in their own definition of beauty. Nubian Cosmetics offers all of this to boost its client’s confidence and more.

This is a make-up range that allows people to confidently show up as their most authentic self. This is a brand that wants to celebrate its clients, cherish and value them as they choose to be – because that’s where their true authenticity and uniqueness lies. The company believes that there is a special, honest and genuine self that lives in every woman and it wants them to embrace who they are and enhance the beauty they already possess.

The brand was founded by Sethu Mehana who is a qualified Make-Up Artist. She is originally from Mdantsane, East London in the Eastern Cape, Mehana discovered her passion for make-up in 2012 while working for a corporate company as a marketer. Similar to the everyday woman, she spent years struggling to find the perfect foundation shade, often being advised to mix two shades in order to find the perfect match – this exercise soon became too costly and artificial. Sethu realised something needed to be done in order to ensure no-one feels left out and everyone had to be catered for, when it comes to finding their shade of foundation and this is why she founded Nubian Cosmetics.
