Online Marketplace Start-Up Bloomable Highlights Why It Changed Its Name. Bloomable started its journey as SA Florist, it has always and will always be for local artisans. In fact, its business was born out of a passionate commitment to support local florists who were trying to compete on a larger scale, but sadly didn’t have the resources.
To date, the company has built meaningful relationships with over 200 artisans, empowering them to expand their businesses by using its tech marketplace as their online hub. The company initiated a Florist Empowerment Program and launched a service called Zoom Bloom that allows customers to order flowers and have them delivered within two hours in JHB, CPT, PTA and DBN.
The company changed its name to ‘Bloomable’, it explained that the reason it changed its name is because the name clearly celebrates the ability to bloom and this is something that resonates so deeply with the company, The potential to flourish, the promise of growth; and the ability to thrive. The word ‘BLOOM’ keeps the company firmly rooted in its history of flowers, but by definition also propels it into a future of growth and expansion, because to bloom is quite literally to grow. Then there’s ‘ABLE,’ which means ‘we can’ and it focuses on ability, the company’s ability, its florists’ and artisans’ ability and its customers’ ability to spread joy. It also highlights its ability as a business to identify the bloomability in those it collaborates with.
Bloomable is an online marketplace that connects people looking to buy fresh flowers and beautiful gifts to the actual artisans who create them. It comes as no surprise then, that it has been called the ‘Uber for florists, but it doesn’t want to limit itself to flowers as it currently has a living, breathing business model and it wants it to keep on growing. It is redefining itself and opening a new chapter. The company wants everything it says and does to reflect its mission to enable its partners, its customers, and itself to bloom and that’s why it changed its name to Bloomable.
