SA Entrepreneur Letlhogonolo Motseeng Announces A New Sneaker Brand Called ‘Shandis.’ South African entrepreneur and founder of Moja Chicken Letlhogonolo Motseeng took to Twitter to announce that he is set to launch a new sneaker brand called ‘Shandis’.
The post read, “Shandis Sneakers coming soon… *Walk With That Thing* Simple : You have walked your journey, you have lived your township dream. Now, Walk With That Thing. This is a clean fresh design not copied from China like….” Motseeng is aiming to offer a sneaker that provides an original design to the market and not ones copied from China. Motseeng is already an established entrepreneur as he founded Moja Chicken which is a fast food startup that is gaining a lot of growth. He aims to diversify his business interests by investing in other industries that are also lucrative.
The sneaker industry in South Africa has been growing tremendously over the last few years in that more local brands are starting to get recognised and are finding success. Brands such as Drip Footwear and Bathu have lead this growth but they have also be criticised for buying Chinese sneakers and rebranding them and not manufacturing locally. Motseeng also aims to do away with ordering sneakers from China and rebranding them as he emphasised that the sneaker brand he will be launching is providing original designs.
Being an entrepreneur or a businessperson needs one to understand that there will always be competition in any industry, but it is important that one brings innovative ideas or solutions that are better than their competitors in order to thrive. Motseeng seeks to do this by providing sneakers with original designs which gives the brand an innovative edge over its competitors.
