SA Entrepreneur Vinny Lingham Launches His Latest Business Venture Called ‘Waitroom’. South African entrepreneur Vinny Lingham has announced the launch of his latest business venture called ‘Waitroom’, which is a first-of-its-kind live streaming video format that uses timed mini-conversations to bring communities together.
This is the newest business venture from Vinny Lingham, who is also a TV personality, prolific angel investor and seasoned entrepreneur. Waitroom facilitates sequential, one-on-one video conversations that are broadcast as a live show, so a larger audience of viewers can watch. The company designed Waitroom to foster short, authentic conversations between well-known individuals and their followers. The company wanted to give communities personal access to their favorite celebrities, thought leaders, creators, makers and experts, live on video. To keep things time efficient, open and fair—and to avoid conversation hogs—Waitroom utilises a countdown timer and a queueing system.
Waitroom’s format was born out of that need to be more time efficient, but the company also believes people will be surprised how much fun and energy the timer and the queue brings. Also, when people appear on camera, 1-on-1 with another person, they truly tend to be more empathetic and genuine, and so Waitroom helps to improve authentic online connection. It is backed by several top Silicon Valley investors such as David Sacks (Craft Ventures), Mike Maples Jr (Floodgate), David Frankel (Founder Collective) as well as Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, and other notables.
Waitroom is building the next generation of live conversation and video streaming experiences. With its unique approach to facilitating conversations between well-known individuals and their followers, the company’s philosophy is all about free, open and shared conversations.
