Lara Fay Activewear is a luxury performance-fashion brand founded by Lara Tennent in 2019. Lara Fay aims to bring women a wardrobe of highly-technical must-haves, designed for the modern multi-tasking woman. Lara Fay is a proudly South African brand, consciously crafted with care in Cape Town, South Africa. The company consists of a small team of women, designing and creating together, to bring its clients beautiful workout clothing. This is a design-driven premium activewear brand on a mission to empower women through fitness and beyond. All its products aim to flatter the female figure and are super comfortable to wear all day.
“I spent a few years living in London in my twenties and was overwhelmed by the fashion industry there, especially the activewear options for women. I was particularly inspired by one brand but at the time (nearly 20 years ago now) thought I was too young and inexperienced to start a similar enterprise in South Africa.” Lara said on the company’s website. Fast forward, after a thriving career in fashion retail, Lara decided eventually to take the plunge in 2019. Although Lara has had much experience in the retail industry over the years, it is really her love of exercise that encouraged her to embark on this journey. Lara is a keen sportswoman, competing in cycling and running races over the last decade. She trains hard constantly, not as much to race anymore but for lifestyle. “My dream is to create a wardrobe for women to make them feel beautiful and inspire them to want to live an active life.” she added.
Based in Cape Town, the company’s all-female team are on a constant mission to create beautiful and technical clothes to flatter a woman’s body as it wants them to feel amazing in its performance activewear. The company tests everything in-house to check it really performs, with its team trying each piece out multiple times before it’s signed off. Quality remains at the very heart of Lara Fay as its luxurious performance fabrics have been carefully sourced from Italy, Brazil and South Africa.
