Absa Opens Dragon Square Branch with SME and International Banking Services

Absa Opens Dragon Square Branch with SME and International Banking Services. Absa has opened a new branch at Dragon Square Mall in Johannesburg, bringing together digital banking, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) support, international banking and advisory services.
The branch is designed to serve a range of customers, including everyday banking clients, affluent and private clients, small businesses and customers requiring international banking assistance.
Its facilities include dedicated advisory spaces, sales and service support, SME banking desks, international banking services and digital self-service capabilities. The branch combines technology with in-person assistance for customers seeking guidance on more complex financial matters.
Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Chief Executive of Personal and Private Banking Pan-Africa at Absa Group, said the branch reflected the bank’s focus on placing customers at the centre of its decisions.
“Branches remain an important part of the customer journey, especially when customers need trusted guidance, human connection and support for more complex financial decisions,” said Lopokoiyit.
Absa said it has continued investing in its branch network as part of a broader move towards digitally enabled and advisory-led banking services. The approach includes supporting digital adoption, improving access and ensuring that in-person banking remains relevant to customers and communities.
For SMEs, the Dragon Square branch is intended to provide support for growth, cash-flow management, payments, lending and everyday business banking requirements.
The branch’s location also brings Absa closer to entrepreneurs operating in Johannesburg’s international trading communities, including businesses connected to Chinese and other cross-border trade corridors.
Faisal Mkhize, Managing Executive of Business Development at Absa Business Banking, said Dragon Square was home to entrepreneurs and business owners contributing to economic activity, job creation and trade.
“By bringing personalised SME banking services closer to where businesses operate, we are making it easier for them to access the solutions, insights and relationships they need to unlock sustainable growth,” said Mkhize.
