Makro Ventures Into E-commerce With The Launch Of Its Shopping App. Makro has announced that it is venturing into the E-commerce industry with the launch of its shopping app. The company aims to cater to customers who can not conveniently shop on their website to use the app instead.
Makro operates 22 massive warehouse stores situated in the large metropolitan centres in South Africa selling food, liquor and general merchandise to retail and wholesale customers. Makro has evolved in the retail space from a stalwart warehouse chain to now being able to offer customers a convenient online shopping hub. Now bringing convenience and affordability to local households and businesses.
With the ecommerce addition to its offering, customers can now enjoy Makro’s deals and value-added services across a broader reach of locations. The shopping app will allow customers to purchase items such as food, liquor and general products. Makro CEO Llewellyn Walters told Tech Central that, “We were greatly assisted by learnings from previous apps we have built in the Massmart group, and the support of Walmart’s global tech team in Bangalore, India has been key to delivering this accelerated project.”
Makro is owned by Massmart which is Africa’s second largest retail group, it comprises of four divisions operating in 423 stores, across 13 sub- Saharan countries.
