How Lehlanka Group Rose To Meet The Challenge Of Skills Development For Women In Male Dominated Industries. The Lehlaka Group is a 100% black female owned and managed company. The Lehlaka Group has risen to meet the challenge of developing the skills base that serves as a foundation for the realization of information and knowledge based society.
The company represents aspirations, dreams and aims of professional women and youth in business and leadership in southern Africa. It believes that the key to accelerating growth and development in all business sectors lies in the convergence of multiplicity of skills. The company’s mission is to empower individuals and capacitate organizations by exploiting the synergies of various skills in the business sectors by convergence. In terms of its social responsibility, the Lehlaka Group will: Establish a training scheme for young black women in business and leadership, place emphasis on disabled women, actively participate in empowering projects run by rural women and sponsor women in business and leadership programs.
Lerato Pretorius, Lehlaka Group’s chairperson is responsible for the advice and business leadership of the business. Lerato Pretorius has Diplomas in Business Management, certificate in Banking Studies and Travel. She worked for Barclays Bank in Maseru Lesotho for 10 years. She then moved to Standard Bank South Africa Head Office in Retail Division for promotion of new products. Lerato moved to Investec Private Bank where she was an Accounts Manager. She has done Business-to-Business Marketing through UNISA.
She started her own businesses, then Joined IFusion’s empowerment wing in the IT industry as a Business Development Director, after which she started Lehlaka Technologies with the vision of running a successful Black Female company and empowering females and youth in the predominantly male dominated ICT environment.
