ArcelorMittal South Africa room to LinkedIn to announce that it has partnered with Deaf Rugby South Africa and it will be sponsoring R350 000 towards Dear Rugby South Africa’s journey to the Deaf Rugby Sevens World Cup.

The post read, “ArcelorMittal South Africa, as part of their Corporate Social Investment initiative, will be sponsoring R350 000 towards Deaf Rugby South Africa’s journey to the Deaf Rugby Sevens World Cup taking place in Argentina in 2023.In the lead up to the Deaf Rugby Sevens World Cup, players took part in an exhibition match at the Rugby Tens championship that took place at the Danie Craven stadium in Stellenbosch on the 16th October 2022.”

The post continued to say, “The rules for Deaf Rugby are a little different. When the referee blows the whistle, the officials will raise certain flags to stop the play, with different flags signifying different offences, which is how the players know what is happening in the game.It will be the first time since 1995 that the team, headed by former Springbok coach Peter De Villiers, will compete in an event.This is an incredible opportunity for these players, many of whom have not had the opportunity to leave the country let along complete at an international event.
