The Kolisi Foundation And Sportsnation Partner To Promote Partnerships Between The Commercial And The Non-profit Sectors. The Kolisi Foundation and Sportsnation are excited to announce their partnership to promote sustainable partnerships between the business world and non-profit organisations in South Africa. The partnership will focus on utilising the support & resources received from Sportsnation to execute the Kolisi Foundation’s projects and programmes in under-resourced communities in which the Kolisi Foundation operates in South Africa.
The Kolisi Foundation was conceptualised in November 2019, the eve before the Rugby World Cup Final, when Siya and Rachel sat in the hallway of their hotel and discussed their social responsibility following the influence they would gain by winning the Rugby World Cup. Siya and Rachel started the Kolisi Foundation to help address some of their personal challenges, which are also faced by millions of South Africans every day growing up. The Kolisi Foundation and Sportsnation have agreed to a one-year partnership with the intention to extend that will see Sportsnation supporting the Foundation in their projects in South Africa & beyond.A strong conviction compels this partnership that every small act of change matters and will significantly assist in changing the inequality narrative for people in vulnerable and under-resourced communities in South Africa.
“This business, Sportsnation was built & exists in a community with many social challenges. We, as an organisation, have managed to navigate some tough times in our growth & it is only natural that we partner with an organisation like the Kolisi Foundation. I want our customers and partners to know that we understand & value our role of giving hope where there is often none! Like Siya, despite the challenges of where we come from, we are privileged enough to give back. Our Alpacaneers are ready to give themselves for the cause. Our organisation is geared to give all our resources & expertise in order to advance the plight of moving our people forward,” says Malusi Mbambo, Sportsnation Managing Director.
“Remember the one, one by one” is at the heart of our foundation. CEO and Co-founder Rachel Kolisi summarises the essence behind the Foundation’s motto so truthfully with the following words: “Remember the one, one by one. Just focus on the one heart, the one person, and the one life that you are changing. To remember those counts. That is more important than anything else. The Foundation focuses on Gender-Based Violence, Food Security, Education and Sports. “By remembering the one, one by one, we will impact the nation.” Says Rachel.
Sportsnation was established in 2012 as a sports news and entertainment company; soon, it became apparent that there was a need in the local market for a sport-related Travel Management company run by professional sportsmen & travel specialists. Within a short period, its reputation for service excellence, skills, knowledge, passion, and emphasis on growth and empowerment resulted in the increased demand for Sports & Incentive travel services for schools, clubs and corporate companies within South Africa. “We have done our fair share of laps around the sporting arena to provide our customers with the most memorable sports experiences. We are excited to be an official travel agent for Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, and we cannot wait to bring the spirit of Africa to France, all while raising funds for the Kolisi Foundation. It’s the perfect fit,” expresses Malusi.
“Malusi and the whole Sportsnation team have shown clear intent in wanting to be a part of the development of South Africa. As an organisation in the development space, we are very excited to have their undivided support from an organisation that wants to give back to its home country. We are excited to use that support most effectively and efficiently possible”, said Kolisi Foundation Strategic Partnerships Manager Joel Smith.
