The business is a B2B support solution as it works with its customers to optimize their current portfolios as well as innovate into new categories. These functional products focus primarily on the Pet Food, Poultry and Aquaculture segments. The business uses spent grain as a clean traceable input for insects that convert this co-product into protein derivatives.
“This investment and team will support our ambitions to become a global functional ingredient player, and the capital will be deployed into extending our production line and building a world-class management team,” Dominic Malan, Commercial Director of Maltento in Cape Town told The Bulrushes. “We will focus on optimising our pet and aquaculture digest formulations which we have successfully commercialised to the sum of 120MT in less than 12 months.”
The company’s ultimate goal is to provide a more effective, functional, sustainable and therefore more desirable feed inclusion at the lowest environmental cost.
