Imbizo Shisanyama Set To Shut Down Operations

Imbizo Shisanyama Set To Shut Down Operations. Founder of Imbizo Shisanyama, Rita Zwane took to Instagram to announce that the establishment will be shutting down operations, due to the challenges it faced after staying open during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The post read, “Today, I am heartbroken.💔Today, we grieve together. After 26 years of building, closing the pinnacle of my dream is hard. Today is hard. But tomorrow is a new day. #AlutaContinua 🙏🏾 — @therealmazwane #BestShisanyama”

Founded in 1997, Imbizo Shisanyama is one of South Africa’s most acclaimed African cuisine restaurants that celebrate the authentic African culture and heritage. At Imbizo Shisanyama’s venues, customers had the opportunity to enjoy Africa’s Ultimate Braai Experience at a restaurant that has earned an enviable reputation over the past 23 years for its delicious authentic African cuisine, quality service and a culture that emanates the true African identity.

Imbizo Shisanyama was founded by Rita Zwane, who sought to empower her community with the establishment, more than anything else. Rita Zwane, affectionately known as maZwane has become a legend in South Africa as a pioneering township entrepreneur with her sights set firmly on empowering and uplifting ordinary South Africans & revitalising the township economy.

“Staying open throughout the pandemic, so our staff and suppliers would have an income took a serious toll on the business. It was a sacrifice I had to make, and would make again,” Zwane told Sunday World. “I could not abandon my community or my loyal patrons. I had hoped that the government’s pandemic relief funds for the township economy would help us all, but they never materialised.”

Recognised for her entrepreneurial success and savvy business acumen maZwane scooped the 2013 NSBC Small Business Champion award for BUSY CORNER Imbizo Shisanyama. In February 2015 she was further acknowledged for her community commitment by the Depart. of Social Development receiving a Gauteng Gift of the Givers award. Later in 2015 maZwane won another accolade at the AfricaGrowth Institute 2015 SMME Awards.
