Afrihost Sponsors Bedfordview Athletics Club’s Boroughs Of Bedfordview. Bedfordview Athletics Club are hosting a 15km and 5km run powered by Afrihost that takes place in Bedfordview on Monday 25 September 2023 on the Heritage Day weekend. The race is on the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) calendar and both distances will be timed and limited to 1750 x 15km and 250 x 5km entries. All entries will receive an Afrihost technical running T-shirt, free race photos and a goodie bag.
The 5km fun run will be in support of the Bedfordview community and the net proceeds from this event will be donated to Better Bedfordview, a not-for-profit civil society organisation that is cleaning, tidying and improving the area, and creating employment. It is funded by community-spirited residents and businesses.
Bedfordview Athletics Club is a running, walking and triathlon club based in the heart of Bedfordview. Bedfordview Club (or Kensington Polytechnic as it was known) was founded in 1925, when a meeting was held at the Rhodes Park Tearoom and a decision was made to form a Sports Club.
“What started as a hybrid-virtual event in 2021 is now a live race on the CGA race calendar for the second year. Novices and more experienced runners can enjoy the 5km and 15km run through the undulating ‘Boroughs’ of Bedfordview. Combined with an awesome T-shirt and free race photos sponsored by Afrihost this should inspire you to hit the road,” said Grant Panter, Chairman of Bedfordview Athletics Club.
Afrihost is the title sponsor of the event. “We had a lot of fun last year, but this year the Boroughs of Bedfordview Run is going to be even bigger and better. We have fun surprises planned throughout the route, plus there will be spot prizes – so don’t miss out,” said Conrad de Beer, Brand Creative Manager of Afrihost.
