How Digital Start-Up Digify Africa Seeks To Create Opportunities For Young People Through Digital Skills. Digify Africa is a youth-led organisation that is at the forefront of shaping Africa’s digital future. Its mission is to bring digital skills to young people across all communities through its various programmes and trainings.

The company wants to help all young people in Africa to become resilient and successful as the future of technology impacts the continent. It provides free education, demand-driven skills and work opportunities for youth across the continent. It drives impact through its youth-led network of digital professionals, entrepreneurs and trainers. It also sustains itself through meaningful partnerships with organisations that support the company’s mission, and by co-delivering digital training and services to clients along with its youth network.

Digify Africa takes an innovative approach to skills development by creating learning experiences that are directly relevant to digital skills that are in-demand. Its training programmes are targeted at young people that have little to no digital media and literacy experience. It is working towards upskilling a generation of youth on the African continent to make use of the growing digital economy to launch and sustain their livelihoods. The company was founded by Gavin Weale who is a journalist, publisher and award-winning social entrepreneur based in Johannesburg. He founded Digify Africa, to create a social enterprise working across the African continent that helps young people benefit from the digital economy with skills, jobs and work opportunities.

Digify Africa’s flagship programme, Digify Pro, has created hundreds of careers in the digital industry and is currently running in 5 cities across the African continent: Johannesburg, Durban, Lagos, Abuja and Nairobi – in partnership with Facebook Africa. The company has a dynamic and progressive team of talented African digital natives based in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria. Through its programmes it is able to absorb its graduates and hire young.
