Launched earlier this year, Shoprite’s Homegrown private label product range is sourced locally from primarily small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) including Wonder Snacks, Khayelitsha Cookies and Exotic Taste. This Black Friday, buy any two Homegrown products and save 10%. ‘Homegrown’, speaks to the products within the new private label being 100% South African. The range consists of everyday favourites including chutney, tomato sauce, atchar, biscuits, chips and candy. It also provides an opportunity for customers to buy a quality range at Shoprite stores, without compromising their budget.
Browns Foods was started in Mabel and Wale Akinlabi’s home kitchen in Johannesburg 2019. This husband-and-wife team’s frozen corn dogs come in three different flavours – Awesome Original, Jalapeño Cheese, and Creamy Cheese. Born out of a spontaneous catering decision during their daughter’s 11th birthday, and the result of many months of experimentation, determination and hard work, a husband-and-wife team from Johannesburg has successfully built a frozen convenience food business – starting with their wildly popular Browns Corn Dog range, currently available at Checkers.
