Ford South Africa Introduces The All-New Ford Territory

Ford South Africa Introduces The All-New Ford Territory. Ford South Africa has confirmed the line-up and specifications for the all-new Territory, which will arrive in local Ford showrooms in the second quarter of 2024. The Territory is a spacious five-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) that brings a commanding presence and smart technology to the segment. The indicative pricing for the Territory will start from R610 000 including VAT.

“The new Ford Territory was built for young, smart, and connected customers. It has a modern design and advanced technology features that deliver an exciting and progressive customer experience,” says Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa. “Our design team focused on three key areas that we felt were important for our customers when designing the new Territory,” Mashinini says. “It had to have a commanding presence on the road, a sense of spaciousness inside, and smart technology that was integrated into the design.”

“This is an important new volume seller for Ford that slots in between the Everest and Puma as we expand our presence in the fast-growing SUV segment,” Mashinini says. The new Territory boasts the commanding presence, craftsmanship, and spacious, flexible interior that tech-savvy customers expect.

The new Territory features Ford’s ‘Progressive Energy in Strength’ design philosophy, which is based on the rich heritage of the brand and its iconic designs. It embodies three fundamental design principles: commanding, agile, and responsive. “Our goal with the new Territory’s design was to create a commanding, forward-moving form that expresses energy and strength while providing space and comfort,” explains Maurizio Tocco, Chief Designer of the Ford Territory. “The strong, full-width signature frontal graphics and strong stance work together to give our vehicles a confident presence.”

From front to back, a strong shoulder line enhances the power and progressive energy of the all-new Territory’s contemporary design language. The elements in the body and rear of the vehicle emphasize 3D floating graphics and represent the youthfulness and energy of this SUV. Innovative LED lighting technology is used for the headlamps and 3D taillights, which focus on the modern advancements of the latest Ford models.

From the side, the Territory appears athletic and expressive. Its sculpted body side, combined with the sharp crease that runs under the beltline and the powerful rear haunch, lend a dynamic aesthetic and sense of agility. Attractive alloy wheels across the range continue this theme, with 18-inch versions on the Ambiente and Trend derivatives, and 19-inch rims on the range-topping Titanium.

The panoramic moonroof is finished off by a floating rear-pillar graphic adding to the streamlined look of the vehicle in profile. The new Ford Territory will offer seven choices of exterior colour, comprising: Star White Tri-coat (solid), Panther Black Metallic, True Blue Metallic, Ruby Red Metallic, Lustrous Grey, Moonlight Blue Metallic, and Crystal Pearl White Metallic Tri-coat.

Designers worked to create a modern and spacious cabin for the new Territory where technology is seamlessly integrated. “We wanted the new Territory’s interior to feel spacious, luxurious, and smart,” said Emily Lai, Colour and Materials Manager, Ford Territory. “We achieved this through the coast-to-coast design of the instrument panel, high-tech digital instrument cluster and touchscreen, roomy interior, and soft-touch materials.”

The double-deck console design incorporates convenient wireless phone charging on the Trend and Titanium models. It provides room for storing small, medium, and large objects as well as a dedicated space for handbags or other items. There are 20 different storage spaces stashed around the inside of Territory while the spacious boot offers up to 448 litres of storage space. This can be expanded to 1422 litres with the 60/40 split rear seats folding completely flat to load bulkier items.

The EcoBoost engine, which has Auto Start Stop across the range, is matched to an advanced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that delivers exceptional responsiveness and performance while maximising fuel economy. In keeping with the high level of technology deployed in the Territory, gear selection is by means of a rotary e-Shifter located in the centre console, in combination with an electronic parking brake.

Drive is delivered to the front wheels with four Selectable Drive Modes available, comprising Normal, Eco, Sport, or Mountain to optimize power, torque, and fuel efficiency according to the driving conditions. This is complemented by handy driver assist technologies such as Hill Launch Assist and Hill Descent Control for optimal control on steep gradients.
