Thebe Magugu Announces Its Collaboration With Canada Goose. Contemporary South African fashion brand Thebe Magugu took to its social media platforms to announce its Heirloom Mystique Parka collaboration with Canada Goose. With this collection Magugu sought to deisgn it as a homage to his Sotho heritage and upbringing from times spent in Mafeteng (Lesotho), which has influenced much of his work as a fashion designer.
The post read, “Thebe Magugu x Canada Goose: We are thrilled to present the Heirloom Mystique Parka in collaboration with @canadagoose. I wanted to design it as an homage to my Sotho heritage and upbringing from times spent in Mafeteng (Lesotho), which has influenced so much of my work as a fashion designer. The Heirloom Mystique Parka’s starting point was a found image of my uncle Teko Magugu in his youth looking incredibly regal in his blanket, pinned once on the shoulder and cascading down, enveloping his body. The blanket acts as a canvas for the abstract, celebratory print. I wanted to translate this into the Heirloom Mystique Parka – combing the heritage explored by the Thebe Magugu brand and the cutting-edge protective outerwear from Canada Goose.”
