How The Bam Collective Was Born Out Of Love For The Liveliness Of SA. Designing since the age of 9 Creative Director, Jacques Bam, always had a fascination and love for the fashion industry. He completed a BA in Fashion Design in 2017 and a BA Honours in Fashion in 2018, both summa cum laude, at LISOF (now STADIO School of Fashion), while interning in the fields of costume design and styling. During 2018 Jacques was announced the winner of the SA Fashion Week student competition, which granted him the opportunity to intern with acclaimed South African fashion houses ERRE and Isabel De Villiers. He went on to launch his brand, The BAM Collective in 2019 as a finalist at the SA Fashion Week New Talent Search.
The BAM Collective was born out of a deep rooted love for the liveliness of South Africa, the exuberance of her people and the profound impact that clothing has on our psyche. The brand specializes in taking a spirited approach to South African luxury, creating inclusive ready-to-wear, made-to-measure and demi-couture garments exclusively from within its studio in South Africa.
Since its inception The BAM Collective has showcased in various countries including Milan as part of the Fashion Bridges – I Ponti Della Moda (2021) and A-Propós (2023) programmes, Paris as the South African laureate for the Africa Fashion Up programme (2022), Dubai Fashion Week (2023) and Mozambique Fashion Week (2019 & 2021). The brand has presented 9 collections as part of SA fashion Week and has been the recipient of numerous awards including trans-seasonal brand of the year at the TWYG sustainability awards (2022), emerging designer of the year at the FIASA awards (2022), winning designer of the Africa Fashion Up showcase in Paris (2022) and most stylish brand at the SA Style Awards (2024).
Today The BAM Collective operates from a small studio in Centurion, South Africa, where all products are consciously produced per order. The brand uses graphic eco-prints, bold colours, striking silhouettes and experimental details to explore unapologetic individuality within the commercial and conceptual boundaries that clothing holds.
