SA StartUps RecoMed And Bankmed Launch e-Pharmacy Solution For Seamless Access To Medication. RecoMed, a South African health technology innovator, has partnered with Bankmed, a leading medical aid scheme dedicated to the Banking and Financial Services sector, to provide a comprehensive e-Pharmacy solution for seamless access to medication. e-Pharm allows Bankmed members to upload scripts for next-day delivery or in-store collection, with payment at the click of a button across all major metropolitan areas in South Africa.
The e-Pharmacy service provided by RecoMed and Bankmed reimagines access to medication for patients across South Africa. Bankmed’s e-Pharmacy solution, e-Pharm, developed in collaboration with RecoMed is integrated with a nationwide pharmacy network for quick and easy script filling and delivery. Deliveries are next-day and co-payments are managed by a mobile point-of-sale machine. RecoMed provides a fully branded and white-labelled solution to Bankmed, transforming health and wellness for Bankmed members. “We believe in using innovation to enhance our members’ wellbeing,” says Dr Dalen Alexander, Bankmed’s Wellness and Innovations Manager. “Our RecoMed-powered booking portal is such a success, making the move to transform member access to prescriptions as the next logical step. Since launching e-Pharm in March 2024, Bankmed has seen an increasing number of its members using the platform to order their medication quickly and easily. Currently, the platform leverages a comprehensive integration with Dis-Chem to ensure scripts are processed and delivered, but members can opt-in to collect as well. e-Pharm also enhances the existing service offerings from Bankmed that include the ability to book Personal Health Assessments and vaccinations.
