The concept for GALAGO was born through a series of trial and error, made mainly out of the desire to make luxury African footwear.

In addition to bridging the style and price gap, the company is committed to honouring its African heritage by making its products in Africa using African hands to cut, stitch and manufacture its signature shoes and accessories. The employees of the company handcraft most of the shoes in its sunny studio in downtown Johannesburg, sourcing its raw material in South Africa and Kenya and meaningfully employing talent (primarily women) from the community. The company is an ethics driven brand, that is big on Africa and big on empowered employment.
