The company is a small indie team dedicated to uplifting and promoting African artists by producing high quality, African influenced content, targeted towards both local & International audiences.
Pineapple on Pizza Studios aims to bring the unique flare of South African artists and creators to an international stage, and become a competing force in the global games industry. Its mission is to build a creative, nurturing & sustainable environment for artists. The company wants to uplift, and support creatives doing what they love, in a sustainable and profitable fashion that contributes to the growth & betterment of the local and international gaming industries.
The company’s goal is to create awareness around the South African Games Industry, to build an inclusive and creatively free workspace, to make an impact on the games industry and to make games that it wants to play. In September 2022, Pineapple on Pizza Studios was founded, with the vision of giving aspiring and talented artists more opportunities for success and creative freedom. With just a few friends and a dream, a studio was born.
In 2023 the company was incubated by Tshimologong Precinct and became part of the Telkom Digital Future Makers program. During 2023 the company was nominated for, and took home various awards and prizes including:- Fakugesi Rising Star (Winner), Games Industry Africa Rising Star (Nominee) and 2nd Place Ayoba Hackathon.
In 2024, it has joined the Google Indie Games Accelerator, as well as the Creation Afrique program supported by the French Embassy to South Africa!
