Jaguar #GiveHerACrown 2024 South African Showcase

Jaguar #GiveHerACrown 2024 South African Showcase. After debuting their #GiveHerACrown collection at New York Fashion Week, five visionary South African designers took centre stage once again at the 2024 #GiveHerACrown South African Showcase. Held at the Jaguar Land Rover Experience Centre, the event was a vibrant celebration of fashion, luxury and talent.

As part of the 2024 #GiveHerACrown campaign, designers Manthe Ribane, Gugu Peteni, Thando Ntuli, Keneilwe Mothoa, and Tsakani Mashaba presented works blending culture, and an expression of empowerment and storytelling. With the 2024 focus on shifting perspectives, inspired by the poetry of spoken word artist Qui Qarre, the initiative brought together female designers who are redefining the fashion landscape with their innovative designs and unique stories.

Michele Rhoda, co-curator from ARRCC, said: “The theme Shifting Perspectives resonated in every piece. Each design told a unique story, reflecting personal journeys, struggles, and triumphs. Seeing their visions evolve from concept to the runway has been profoundly inspiring. These women are not just designers; they are storytellers shaping a new narrative for African creativity.”

Chuks Collins, co-curator and representative of the African Fashion Council said: “This showcase was a celebration of African creativity, heritage, and innovation. These designers didn’t just present collections; they made a statement about African fashion’s rightful place on the world stage. Their work shows that African design is not only ready to compete globally, but it’s leading in redefining fashion.”

Irene Kakooza, Brand Manager Jaguar and Range Rover said: “Witnessing the brilliance of these designers has been an incredible journey. From local talent to global trailblazers, their growth embodies the essence of breaking barriers. At Jaguar, we champion the spirit of innovation and leadership. Through this partnership, we’re proving that when women are (em)powered, they drive change across industries.”

As the designers continue their journey, the #GiveHerACrown campaign remains focused on empowering future generations. Proceeds from the Crown Collection will support the Crown Bursary Fund, which has already helped 20 young talents who are being nurtured to become the next wave of creatives shaping African future.

The #GiveHerACrown empowerment platform uses the arts to change the narrative on gender equality by telling the stories of all women, the survivors, the activists, the pioneers, the next generation. Jaguar has supported the platform since its launch in 2020, proudly celebrating and showcasing the talented women and their stories. As Jaguar pursues its all-electric, modern luxury future within the JLR portfolio of brands, nurturing an inclusive and innovative culture is paramount. By embracing a spectrum of perspectives, the culture is enriched but also innovation and sustainability is ensured. The commitment to these values is unwavering as Jaguar aims to empower and elevate voices across its global community.

The success of the #GiveHerACrown 2024 South African Showcase is a reminder that dreams, when nurtured through community, collaboration, and resilience, can become transformative realities.
