Provantage Champions Transformation Through B-BBEE Initiatives

Provantage Champions Transformation Through B-BBEE Initiatives. As a leading out-of-home media, marketing services, and business solutions company, Provantage is dedicated to creating sustainable opportunities for all South Africans through its Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) initiatives.

For Provantage, the spirit of transformation in South Africa transcends policy frameworks. It represents a shared vision of building a society where everyone can thrive. The company emphasises that when clients partner with Provantage, they are not just engaging in a business relationship but joining a movement committed to lasting transformation and empowerment. While many organisations treat B-BBEE certification as an administrative requirement, Provantage, a proud Level 1 B-BBEE contributor, is deeply committed to providing equitable access to the economy

Lerato Elizabeth (Liz) Kolobe, Non-Executive Director at Provantage, explains: “For Provantage, transformation isn’t just about ticking the right boxes. It extends beyond our scorecard and various initiatives. We are committed to incorporating integrated efforts that positively impact our communities and staff.”

Provantage’s Official B-BBEE Scorecard reflects this ethos. The company operates under the MAC Sector (Marketing, Advertising, and Communication) Code, which imposes stricter criteria than the generic B-BBEE code. Provantage’s Level 1 status is a testament to its transformative impact, with 51% Black ownership and 39% Black Female ownership.

Provantage’s activities align with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals, reflecting a holistic approach to sustainability and meaningful change.

The company’s sustainable practices include:

  • Supporting Black-Owned Suppliers: Prioritising procurement from black-owned businesses to promote economic growth.
  • Uplifting SMMEs: Creating operational and financial visibility for small enterprises.
  • Education and Employment for Disabled Citizens: Driving initiatives to improve access to education and employment.
  • Community Upliftment: Focusing on Early Childhood Development (ECD) through centres like Tubelisha and Qalabusha.
  • Gender-Based Violence Awareness: Raising awareness and taking action against GBV.
  • Entrepreneurial Support: Enhancing South African entrepreneurship through training and mentorship.
  • Youth Empowerment: Investing in skills development programmes for young black professionals.

Provantage actively supports organisations such as the Ekhukanyeni Relief Project, the Smile Foundation (SED), the Tears Foundation, and various ECD centres. Additionally, the Provantage Training Academy conducts community-based initiatives, including education for people with disabilities and structured learnerships.

Provantage’s commitment to transformation also offers strategic advantages for its clients. As a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor, clients receive benefits like 135% procurement recognition and points toward the procurement scorecard, especially when working with suppliers who are at least 51% black-owned or 30% black female-owned.

Kolobe adds: “Being B-BBEE compliant allows Provantage to compete more effectively, especially in sectors where compliance is a key factor for clients. Our commitment to transformation sets us apart, aligning with the values of consumers and businesses prioritising economic empowerment and sustainability. This drives meaningful change while supporting business growth.”
