Morea House Brings Autograph Collection’s Boutique Hotel Concept to Cape Town

Morea House Brings Autograph Collection’s Boutique Hotel Concept to Cape Town. Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection Hotels has expanded its presence in South Africa with the opening of Morea House, Autograph Collection, a 90-room boutique hotel located in Camps Bay along Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard. The opening marks Autograph Collection’s first property in Cape Town and adds to the brand’s portfolio of independent hotels globally.

Situated along one of the city’s most recognisable coastal areas, Morea House brings Autograph Collection’s place-led approach to Camps Bay. The property focuses on locally inspired design, wellness-driven experiences, and curated dining and wine offerings that reflect its coastal setting.

According to Marriott International, the hotel is positioned to showcase Cape Town’s character through its architecture, interiors, and guest experiences. Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, vice president of premium, select and midscale brands for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, said the property reflects the city’s spirit through its connection to the surrounding ocean and mountains.

The hotel was designed by Cape Town-based interior architect Tristan du Plessis. Its design draws on contrasts found in the local landscape, incorporating sculptural forms with natural materials such as timber, stone and bronze tones. Guestrooms and suites are oriented toward mountain, ocean and beach views, with bespoke furniture and finishes influenced by the surrounding environment. Public areas transition between expansive terraces and more intimate spaces, featuring artworks by South African artists and elements linked to local heritage.

Morea House includes several dining venues across the property. Omri, the ground-floor restaurant, serves modern Lebanese cuisine influenced by South African coastal flavours, using locally sourced ingredients and a curated wine selection. The Morea House Pool Restaurant on the second floor offers seasonal dishes in a poolside setting overlooking the ocean and transitions into an evening cocktail venue. Additional spaces include The Courtyard and The Wine Room, which is intended for private tastings and small gatherings.

Wellness is integrated throughout the guest experience, with daily rituals, outdoor activities and spa offerings. Activities include sunrise yoga, coastal walks, guided mountain hikes and guided cold-water immersion experiences in the Atlantic Ocean. The on-site spa follows a holistic approach, offering treatments such as the Morea Elemental Flow massage and the Morea Ocean Radiance full-body ritual.

Albert Smit, General Manager of Morea House, said the intention is for guests to experience the property as a sanctuary designed to encourage restoration and reconnection with its setting locally.
