Apple Introduces iPhone Duo, Its First Foldable iPhone

Apple Introduces iPhone Duo, Its First Foldable iPhone. Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. The device is designed to provide a larger screen when unfolded while retaining a compact form when closed. Apple describes it as the thinnest iPhone it has produced when opened.

The inner display features a nano-texture finish intended to reduce glare and minimise the visibility of the crease. Both displays support ProMotion, Always On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.

The iPhone Duo has a grade 5 titanium enclosure, Ceramic Shield protection on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. Apple says the front protection offers three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation. The device also has an IP68 rating for water, dust and splash resistance.

Its camera system includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera with optical-quality 2x Telephoto capability and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The main camera supports zero shutter lag and 4K Dolby Vision video recording at 120 frames per second.

The folding design enables features such as Smart Take, Duo Preview and Duo FaceTime. A FaceTime camera is positioned beneath the inner display.

Running iOS 27, the iPhone Duo supports Split View, allowing users to run two apps side by side. Users can also open two windows of the same app and save app pairs for later use.

The device includes Apple Intelligence and a new Siri AI experience, which Apple says can search across apps, answer questions about on-screen content and perform actions.

Powered by the A20 Pro chip, the iPhone Duo uses a custom vapor chamber for thermal management and a dual-battery architecture.

The device starts at $1,999 in the United States, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Pre-orders open on 16 October, with availability beginning on 23 October in more than 70 countries and regions.
