Altron Names Collin Govender to Lead HealthTech Business from September. Altron has appointed Collin Govender as the new Managing Director of Altron HealthTech, with his appointment set to take effect on 1 September 2026 as the technology group prepares for a leadership transition within its healthcare business.
Govender will succeed Leslie Moodley, who announced his early retirement earlier this month after leading Altron HealthTech since 2021.
Currently serving as Altron’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Govender is responsible for strategy execution, human capital, environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, Group IT and real estate across the company’s multi-platform operating model.
Announcing the appointment, Altron Group Chief Executive Officer Werner Kapp said Govender’s experience in business transformation and strategic leadership made him well positioned to lead the next phase of growth for the HealthTech division.
Kapp said the appointment supports Altron’s multi-platform strategy while positioning the business to pursue opportunities in artificial intelligence and data monetisation within the healthcare technology sector.
Govender brings more than 25 years of experience in technology, managed services and digital transformation. Since joining Altron in 2017, he has held several senior leadership positions, including Managing Director of Altron Karabina and Altron Systems Integration, where he led business turnaround and profitability improvement initiatives before being appointed Group Chief Operating Officer in 2024.
Before joining Altron, Govender held senior leadership roles at T-Systems South Africa, where he managed service lines generating more than R600 million in revenue and led initiatives aimed at improving profitability and customer satisfaction. He is also a graduate of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Program and Harvard Business School’s Strategic Executive Program for Africa.
Commenting on his appointment, Govender said Altron HealthTech has built a strong foundation in healthcare practice management and electronic health records, while highlighting future opportunities in data and artificial intelligence.
He said his priorities will include expanding the HealthTech platform, strengthening the company’s AI capabilities and unlocking greater value from its data assets to support healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes.
Moodley leaves the business after five years at the helm of Altron HealthTech. During his tenure, the company strengthened its market position, expanded strategic partnerships and introduced innovations aimed at improving healthcare provider productivity and patient care.
Kapp thanked Moodley for his leadership and contributions, noting that the business introduced pioneering oncology innovations during his tenure that delivered tangible benefits for patients while reinforcing Altron’s focus on solving real-world challenges through technology, data and innovation.
