1. The founder, Theo is a qualified Accountant.
2. The idea of creating Bathu came to him when he was working in the middle east.
3. The main reason behind the creation Bathu was that he realized that there was a gap for African Sneaker brands portraying the African Culture.
4. By 2015 Theo had been rejected by 13 different factories.
5. Bathu was founded in 2015 and the first sneaker was the mesh sneaker.
6. The same year 100 of those sneakers were launched to people in Alexandra, Midrand and Thembisa.
7. In 2017 Bathu entered its first corporate collaboration which led to a further 1000 pairs of the Mesh Edition sneakers.
8. In 2018, Bathu bought its first delivery vehicle and opened its first store in Newtown.
9. Bathu currently has 10 stores and plans to open 7 more.
10. Bathu and Theo have achieved many acolades including being on Forbes 30 under 30 2019.
